Daniel Lee

Executive Director

Daniel founded the Galactosemia Gleam Fund in 2023. He is currently studying cognitive neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University on a pre-med track. Daniel was born on March of 2005 in a rural hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was misdiagnosed with classic galactosemia at a few days old. As with many real cases, he had a rough start with frequent testing and challenges sticking to rigorous diet restrictions. Years later, once the misdiagnosis was cleared, he became fascinated by the bidirectional mechanisms that link food, the gut, and the brain in disorders like galactosemia. He aims to build on the translational research he has compiled thus far by helping to determine the interplay of metabolic pathways in neurological disorders.

Besides being a student, Daniel loves to play basketball, practice the violin, and work on his digital art and webtoons.
